X MEN 3: THE LAST STAND
Featuring: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen
Brief Synopsis: A cure is found to turn mutants into humans. Unusually enough, this isn't to everyone's liking and this is where a lot of action begins

Comments: This was an action packed film without being formulaic. The unexpected actually happens - main characters died! It took me a while to realise that Cyclops wasn't actually coming back and then the Professor got turned into dust too!! Once these things happen, you know you are on a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns where no character is safe. This suspense can carry on through the film and it is possible to get away with this because the Marvel Universe has dozens of characters with which you can introduce and take away simply because they are available. In any other film, it wouldn't be possible because you would have to give them some sort of introduction but here cameo roles make for a more realistic film because all the characters already have some background (well if you are a comic geek!).

It's like a huge adrenaline rush as you are lurched from one scene to the next and you wonder how the X Men are going to stop a madly powerful woman (yes, even stronger than Hillary Clinton!) from destroying America. The continuation from the previous films are useful - it's actually worth watching them to refresh the background - but you will find that this one simply blows the others out of the water in terms of plotlines and special effects which are just as impressive as before. The only reason that this film doesn't have a higher rating is that I feel the re-watch value isn't there as once you've seen it, you don't really feel the urge to see it again (unlike Mission Impossible 3). However you should go and watch it once - if not in a cinema, then with the largest TV screen you can get your hands on and a massive sound system!

Things to learn from this film: If your uncle continually asks you which superpower you would most like, the drab sounding healing power might now be a strong contender!
Rating: 6/10
