HITCH
Featuring: Will Smith, Kevin James, Eva Mendes, Amber Valletta
Brief Synopsis: A man teaches other men how to get 3 dates with the women of their dreams.
Comments: Wowzers - it's been so long since I been to see a film that I nearly forgot what it was like to be in a cinema! It was the choice between this romantic comedy or the Oscar winning Baby and it was decided by me to choose this one purely to warm up for a more serious film next time!
OK, no getting away from it. This film reeks of cheese. BUT it is done very cleverly with the normal predictable situations being spun a little differently. The interplay between Will Smith and Kevin James is excellent comedy, with my thoughts of the teaching of dance and first date kiss scenes coming to mind. Actually their relationship is stronger than the relationship between the men and women of their dreams, for me. Eva Mendes is ok but I spent most of the film trying to think if her hispanic looks had any similarities with my brother's girlfriend!
Nothing spectacular regarding the plot although I thought Will Smith was wrong in his assessment of his own role in the relationships at the end of the film - he was the spark that helped light the fire in my opinion. I actually enjoyed the outlandish dancing at the end if only for the fact that it makes me feel a little less bad about my own moves. Cough. Anyway it is a cute film that I recommend for single (guys in particular!) and dating couples but not really one for married couples - I don't know why but that was one of my main thoughts coming out of the cinema!
Thing to learn from this film: There are so many things to learn that you must really watch it for yourself but the first one to come to mind is (umm Derek thinks); make your existence obvious to the lady that you like (obviously in a loud, positive way!).
